MITIP 2011 22-24 June

20 May, 2011

On 22-24 June 2011, NTNU, Department of Production and Quality Engineering and SINTEF Technology and Society, Operations Management will hold the MITIP 2011 (13th International Conference on the Modern Information Technology in the Innovation Processes of the Industrial Enterprise). The conference is an international scientific conference on manufacturing and logistics, focusing on exploitation of information and communication technology (ICT). As a result of outsourcing and offshoring, increased scope and tempo in the globalisation of the world trade have caused significantly larger challenges for both the industry and trading companies. Moving the knowledge front for global manufacturing and logistics through exploitation of information technology is of massice importance for industrial enterprises where supply lines are growing longer and more complicated. Advanced solutions for complex challenges in the industry and differentiated customer needs are needed, which illustrates the need for new products, processes and services rendered possible through information technology.

The goal of MITIP 2011 is to pass on ideas, knowledge and experience on ICT based innovation in intelligent manufacturing and in intelligent value chains.

The main theme for this year’s conference is ICT enabled intelligent manufacturing and supply chains. The conference is sponsored by SFI Norman and SMARTLOG with support from the Research Council of Norway and NTNU Globalization Research Programme. The conference will in several ways contribute to the aims of the NTNU Globalization Research Programme.
